spring…BOY ARE WE GLAD TO SEE YOU

As the weight of winter eases, it feels good to open our eyes to spring and to put the dormant cosy days behind us

to step away from the subdued and embrace the fresh new growth and life emerging around us.

I really enjoy the process of seasonal change and it feels natural to reflect it in the mood and feel of the store, as well as in my own home.

So i spent some time thinking about what this means.

If we make time to be still, can we listen to our spaces? can we hear what they say?

For me it has been enlightening to consider a more rounded approach to design.

By adopting a more positive and honest approach to our homes and prioritising feelings over looks we arrive at a very good place, emotionally, as well as physically.

This balanced approach is giving much more gentle results, its as though there is physically less tension in the scheme, and its tangible.

Letting rooms breathe, using relaxed materials that age well is just so restful.

Its allowing everything to just be.

When we try too hard things are forced and uncomfortable, like a glass table constantly asking to be polished, versus a beautiful old timber one just asking to be admired.

One gives you a chore, and one gives you a smile. It’s a no brainer.

One goal we set for the store this year was to put more energy into our pre-loved items, so this spring we are introducing our ‘green labels’ anything that is second hand/vintage will be identified with a green label.

Our aim is to make it really easy for you to shop sustainably with us, and we wanted to proudly show the items we have found that we feel are ready to bring joy for a second time.

Second hand items have always had a special place for me, they bring a richness and depth to a room, so whether its an old vase on your mantlepiece or a beautiful armchair redressed in new cloth, its worth considering their charm and inviting them into your space, they make great housemates!

So choose wisely, be still enough to hear your thoughts, and go with them.

You will find your own style and your home will thank you for it.
