Fryth (one of our favourites)
One of our goals for this year is to bring more local makers into the store, to seek out the special people who make beautiful things for all the right reasons. Nina at Fryth epitomises this with bells on!
We have worked with Nina for a little while and as we have spent more time with her we have really enjoyed learning more about her process and approach. Fryth was set up as a sideline to a larger cabinet maker, as a way of utilising all of their beautiful off-cut timber. Nina takes these discarded materials and turns each one by hand into stunningly simple and incredibly useful everyday objects. The lines and shapes she designs and creates are so well balanced and the hand feel of each form so well considered they are a joy to use, and so aesthetically pleasing they can simply be admired as objects in their own right.
We recently caught up with Nina in the studio to get a preview of her new collection and were so impressed that it was just too hard to choose what to order, Instead, we simply asked that she makes what feels right with the timber she has at the time as we completely trust in her and will very much look forward to receiving and selling whatever comes!
Later in the Spring when Nina has created these pieces she will be coming into the store for a ’meet the maker’ event where you can meet her and learn more about the person behind these wonderful items, adding even more value to these glorious pieces. (we promise we will try hard not to buy too many for ourselves first!)
